Spedia and About, Inc. Create Powerful New Ad Vehicle

OAKLAND, Calif.

Spedia.com, Inc., a leading provider of permission-based online marketing solutions, today announced that it has entered into a strategic marketing partnership with About, Inc., the world's seventh largest online property.

For more than a year, major advertisers and networks have used Spedia's own advertising delivery vehicle, the SpediaBar, to reach users. In turn, Spedia rewards its nearly 2 million members for running the SpediaBar on their screens as they browse the Internet.

About has now partnered with Spedia to create a private label ad delivery vehicle. The resulting About Bar and About Get Paid To Use The Net site, http://about.spedia.com, will be part of the About.com network, but will be administered by Spedia. All infrastructure, including ad serving and tracking on the bar, members accounts management, points accumulation, payment disbursement and customer service, will be handled by Spedia. Both companies will generate revenue by selling advertising on the Bar. In addition to increased impressions, About will also benefit from various loyalty solutions the Bar provides, such as advertiser ownership of splash pages that users land on as they open or close the Bar.

"We're very excited about our relationship with Spedia," said John Caplan, President Network Groups of About, Inc. "We've been looking for a partner who could not only help us grow our business, but give us the tools we need to provide outstanding customer service and additional benefits to our users. Spedia is the ideal company to provide us with the tools we need to enhance the online experience for all our users."

Spedia.com Technology Advantage
Spedia.com's technology can be outsourced by advertisers to more effectively target users, and by publishers to build loyalty among their existing user base. That technology's precise and personalized targeting capabilities, superior cheat prevention mechanisms, Flash- and Java-support, and comprehensive real-time reporting allow Spedia to be an Application Service Provider.

"Since Day One at Spedia we've worked extra hard to build a scalable ad serving
and technological infrastructure capable of handling high traffic," said Milen Panteleev, Spedia.com Executive Vice President. "And now, as we naturally expand into the B2B arena, our business partners can take full advantage of our technology."

About Spedia.com, Inc.
Spedia.com is a leading provider of permission-based online marketing solutions. Spedia offers advertisers precise targeting; private label ad delivery vehicles; accelerated, cost effective member acquisition; and opt-in e-mail campaigns. In September 2000, 100hot.com ranked Spedia.com as the eighth most popular web site in the world.

Spedia.com Contacts the FBI To Pursue Computer Crime Over the Internet

OAKLAND, Calif.

Spedia.com, Inc., after meeting with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today that it has initiated legal action against a group of Internet abusers from China.

Over half a million libelous SPAM e-mails were sent to Spedia and its business partners in the past two days by a group of ex-Spedia members. Spedia immediately notified the FBI's San Francisco office, which has now initiated an investigation. Internet service providers in the US have already been notified and asked to block the IP addresses of the e-mail attack network. Further actions will also be taken, including contacting the respective embassies, local authorities in China, and the abusers' employers.

Spedia is "notorious" among individuals conducting computerized crimes for its stringent anti-hacking and anti-spam policies. As a result of this recent development, Spedia today announced plans to grow its vigilant anti-abuse units into a separate full-fledged department. "We take very seriously attempts to hurt our business and that of our partners", said Milen Panteleev, Spedia's Executive Vice President and co-founder. "The involvement of the FBI should send a message to potential abusers that tampering with the integrity of our company's service will result in severe legal actions."

The FBI has established comprehensive programs and initiatives dealing with computer crime. Detailed information is available at the FBI site (www.fbi.gov), especially on the National Infrastructure Protection Center page (www.nipc.gov). More information is also given at the home page of the FBI's Washington Field Office Infrastructure Protection and Computer Intrusion Squad (www.fbi.gov/programs/ipcis/index.htm), responsible for investigating unauthorized intrusions into major computer networks.

Today's news coincides with Spedia's recent move to number 8 (up from 11) in the ranking of the web's most popular sites in the world, according to 100hot (www.100hot.com/directory/100hot/).

OAKLAND, Calif.

Spedia.com, Inc., www.spedia.com, today launched its latest version 2.10 of the SpediaBar, the company's advanced ad delivery vehicle.

"The latest SpediaBar upgrade combines style with substance", said Milen Panteleev, the company's Executive Vice President. All 1.5 million Spedia members can now download the new "high-tech" SpediaBar, which boasts a completely redesigned graphical user interface, and is loaded with added-value features. These include a radio player, quick links to all money-making opportunities, and an LCD, pager-type panel that runs personalized system and promotional messages.

SpediaBar 2.10 also supports Flash-animated (Shockwave) banners. Coupled with SpediaBar's personalized precise targeting capabilities, this new feature is set to provide a "stickier" Internet experience, pleasing users as well as advertisers.

Advertisers will also be pleased to learn that Spedia has waged a full-scale war against hackers. SpediaBar 2.10 supports exceptionally sophisticated, AI-based, cheat-prevention mechanisms.

Yet another benefit to advertisers is the new SpediaBar's competitive targeting capabilities. SpediaBar 2.10 recognizes when users visit web sites of competitors or perform category keyword searches, and immediately displays relevant banners.

Says Panteleev, "Previous SpediaBar versions have already demonstrated Spedia's superior ad targeting capabilities. But this version is also a harbinger of our plans to become a leader in the Internet Assistant arena."

The latest SpediaBar upgrade coincides with Spedia Network's relocation to a new and much larger office location in Oakland. The new office space at the Airport Corporate Center in Oakland, which overlooks much of the Bay Area, is better suited to support Spedia's dramatic growth and to accommodate business partners.
